Some members of The North Shore Whisky Club will be in attendance at Hugh O'Neill's Pub in Malden, MA this Wednesday October 16th.

The pour list is still yet unknown but I'm sure will be delectable.

Until then fine gentlemen - Slainte!

1st Meeting In The Books!

Turns out it was a beautiful evening selected as the maiden meeting of the North Shore Whisky Club!

4 was all we could muster as schedule conflicts ultimately were working against some members.

We started with a selection that was not on the menu but one of us saw behind the bar.

Brenne Whisky which is a French single malt matured in cognac casks.

We talked about inventories and past experiences with whisky.  A bite to eat followed by an after dinner dram of Ardbeg 10 (how can you go wrong).

The next meeting will coincidentally happen during a Scotch Tasting held by our gracious hosts and home pub Hugh O'Neill's.

Attendees: Dancer, Chag, Heff & Norm

Completely Blind Whisky Tasting idea/poll:

Here's a crazy idea.

We here at North Shore Whisky Club are considering taking on a fun project.

A completely blind whisky tasting.

Here's the basic idea:
Sign up & pay to receive a small package at your house with 3 (3 oz.) non-discript bottles filled with 3 different whiskies (3 different whiskies, 2 drams each for a total of 6 drams).

Inside the package will be the instructions to tweet your impressions using a certain hashtag.  Once you do your tasting you can then compare your smells/tastes with everyone else who tried it on twitter.  At the end of the month (or whenever the end point is) all the impressions, notes, guesses are tallied and the big reveal is unveiled via twitter and this blog to everyone's shock/amazement.  Mmm?

If this sounds like something that might be fun please take the poll at the right hand column and let me know if you like the idea.
Thanks,
---NSWC

Kappy's Medford Scotch Tasting 6/15:

The core players here at NSWC attended Kappy's scotch tasting at their Medford, MA location.

Marketing reps from many distilleries and parent companies where on hand pouring out liquid gold of all kinds and types.

It was a well thought out and put together event and my guess is Kappy's did very well considering Father's day was the next day and there was a Bruins game that evening.

It's no secret that Kappy's is the place to shop here on the North Shore and Gino (the Manager) treats you right.  It's refreshing to speak to a knowledgeable staff who can steer you in the right direction.

Great job.
